Back in April, my son was taken by ambulance to a noted children's hospital after experiencing what looked like a stroke (at age 10).

My thoughts are that since you just don't know, I would just keep doing what you planned on doing, and if you do get a bill, you can deal with it then.
Not saying go spend your money willy-nilly, but rather continue on with your current spending plan. If you get a bill, you can then decide where to allocate your savings and make payments on the rest.
Or, you could start squirling some money away, just in case, then if you don't get a bill you will just have more money to put towards something else.
I don't have much to say expect to wish you the best of luck, Kelly. Our system is nuts. I hope you can navigate your way safely out of it!

Some insurance companies have the clause that if it's an Emergency, you can go to any facility.

I think this definitely a wait and see situation. I love how everyone is so casual about the money and what will happen. They don't have to worry about worse case scenerios though do they? At least it is March you have to wait until and not Dec 2012. Good luck. I hope they pay it, that is why we have this insurance!!
