My accountability vent below...

For those of you who didn't read my post in Accountability for May 20:

SO's rig broke down and since he isn't sure if it is worth fixing, we got another car off of craigslist.  Details aside, we were considering canceling out destination wedding coming up soon.

I wanted to share (especially those of you with kinds words down below) that we ARE going.  :)  I will do what I can to contribute as much as possible to the trip.

On side note to all of this, this was the first time I had ever used an agent (a good friend of mine) and booked an entire package in full before.  After our little scare, and finding out it was going to cost 25% of the entire package to cancel, I don't know if I would ever do it this way again.  I understand the airfare thing, but accomodations and car rental, really???

Anywho, relieved that we are going, but need to get back into the planning mode.  I am in good standing with my homework (have to turn everything in early), so grateful for that.

Thanks again for the kind words in the Accountability thread.  My MSMW board is toally dead, so need you guys.  :)

I'm sososo happy that you are going to be able to go.

I know it's hard to make these sorts of decisions, but I truly believe you made the right one.

Now when you are actually on the trip, PLEASE don't worry about the money.  You've made the decision after careful consideration . . . so don't second guess yourself or let any lingering worries disturb your fun and relaxation.

You deserve to celebrate!  CONGRATS!!!!!!

I agree with Stormdancer: now that you're going on the trip, don't think about money and just try to enjoy what you've bought.

I'm a little surprised to hear that you can't cancel, but then it's been ages since I used a travel agent. Some online websites allow you to cancel your hotel reservation within a week of the travel. Also, when I am going through a strecth of illness, I tend to buy travel insurance -- this way if I cannot go on the trip, I can get a refund. I guess I'm giving you tips without knowing whether they'd apply to your situation now or in the future.

Enjoy the honeymoon!
