I'm in! I can start tonight by going out and making a bigger batch of Shepherds pie than I was planning on . . . and maybe some turnip soup :)
My caveat is that I have to eat out a lot for work (conferences etc) so my goal will be to not eat out anywhere that I have to PAY for. Does that make sense?

How tall are you GalAudrey? 152.5 sounds great!

I would like to tell you that I will participate in this, however, when the chance comes along to eat out I am usually all over it! I live rurally and the chances don't come along all that often. I am determined to keep going back on my diet. I had a rough weekend with it but am back in the sadle today. I have lost 10-13 pounds(yo-yoing at the moment) but really want to make this change so am determined if I falter I will pick myself back up and keep at it.

Anyway, there are months I do not go out to eat just because the opportunity does not present itself but if it does I will try my hardest to go with a healthier option!

WE CAN DO THIS!

Good work gal_adrey. You're weight is already going down!

I did not buy myself a breakfast sandwich at work this morning, instead I am eating some cheese and fruit that I brought from home. I saved myself about $4. I also pre-made our dinner tonight (a stir-fry, but I've done all the chopping ahead of time!) so I'm all set for tonight.

mahopac, there are 3 reasons I eat out: (1) I am a terrible cook. If you had to eat my cooking, you'd want to eat too. (2) I'm tired. I often work 11 hours days in order to keep up with my workload, then add on 2 hours on the bus each way. By the time I get home, I'm often too tired to cook. (3) I'm single, so most of my entertainment is meeting friends for a meal out.

But no more excuses! I talked to DD, and she is going to start cooking some more. She made a committment to me that, on the days I'm too tired, she will completely take over cooking. Additionally, she said she is going to aggressively talk me out of restaurants if I bring up the subject. She's in 100% for the "no eating out in November" challenge. (We've actually started immediately and we're not eating out this week either.)

Woot-woot, let's do this!

Kate - that is wonderful that your daughter is stepping up even more to help you out with meals when you're tired!

Gal_Audrey - great news on the weight loss and money saving you're doing!

I'm a firm believer in positive reinforcement so WE CAN DO THIS! :)
