Although I don't do "diets," I do enjoy exercising and got back into it last January. You are about where I am at. In the middle of September I was at about 147 in my workout outfit with shoes (I am also about 5-5 and 43) and in the 4 weeks lapse in my gym membership I put the 3 pounds back on that took me 6 months to lose. Sigh....(OK, this may just be an excuse, but the gym did change to digital scales) So, I am not weighing myself on the same scale, but still....
For me, like you, it is more about food choices then counting calories. It is WORSE not to eat, as it slows your metabolism down. I was shocked when I had my analysis done in the Bod Pod in the end of May and saw how much fat I still had. That was after 5 months of working out 3 days a week.
I am also taking Nutrition right now and for goodness sakes, there is sure alot to it! At the end of the day it is calories, but if you add foods high in fiber, they are generally healthier choices and you will feel full faster. You can be thin or big and still be malnurished.
Although I don't really care about the scale, it is fair to say when the generous BMI puts your right on the edge of being overweight, it is time to do something.
I think this challenge that you are doing is great. I have actually been doing the opposite intentionaly to gain more weight for this pregnancy. It is a bit complicated but once the baby is born with in a week I will definately join in. One thing that we did already to prepare to cook more at home is I bought a meat share from our local coop of different cuts of pork, beef and chicken about 50lbs to make cooking at home more appealing. Otherwise I am going to definately encourage meals being brought to our house instead of gifts because we really don't need anything.

Oh, Kate, two hours on the bus each way is brutal!

Welcome Girly!
I decided to not only not buy anything in relation to food other than groceries in November but have taken it a step further!

Hi everyone,
