I'm really happy to report that our refi on our house went through yesterday.

We were able to shave 7 years off our our mortgage length, and decrease our monthly payment too (by $135).

The assessment actually came in $15,000 - $25,000 higher than we anticipated, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Okay, apparently Quick Reply doesn't want to post.  :(

How exciting for you!  A win-win all the way around.

That is amazing!!  Shortening the life of the loan AND saving $135 a month! That's amazing! Good for you!

Wow, that turned out really well for you! We are doing ours now, looks like we will go from 21 years left, to a 15 year - so 6 years off, but $87 more a month and they need to escrow the taxes and insurance which we pay seperately now. I think our house is under water, so we are doing the refinance without the appraisal option. What was your interst rate prior to the refi and post if you can share? -Marie
