Hello All,
Well, I started my new job back on December 1st. and that very same week I got really sick. I had been dealing with a chest cough for about 5 days before this, but then one night I came down with a fever, chills and body aches. I felt really run down. I had been off of my thyroid medication for about 2 weeks so I was feeling really run down and like I had put myself past my limits with all of the stress I had been dealing with. I canceled choir practice that night and I called into work the next day, but I knew I had to go in on Friday to get the church bulletin put together. I dragged myself into work with a fever and got it done. Then I tried to rest for the whole weekend (except for Sunday Service because Im the musician) but I was having a hard time sleeping because of night sweats and coughing. I had a fever for 5 days and I took Monday off from work as well. I canceled all of my piano lessons during that time as well. I was trying to rest but I was not doing a very good job! So after the fever quit, I had this continuous cough that kept getting worse. After about a week of that cough and my pastor telling me that I sounded like I was not better, I made an appointment to see a doctor. I was sooooooo tired. I would go to work and then I had to come home and take a nap. Turns out I had developed walking pneumonia and she put me on antibiotics and a nighttime cough medicine so I could sleep. It's a week later and I am still so tired. My cough is getting much better but I still know that I'm not normal. I get winded really quickly and I'm so tired that I can't do much besides work and sleep. I can't clean my house or do laundry or cook. I keep on trying to eat nutritious foods but I don't have the energy to go to the grocery store or put away the food or cook! It's a vicious cycle here. So the lesson here is that if you don't take care of yourself, you have too much on your plate and you don't deal with your stress, you can get really ill! Even if you are young! I'm 33! So my New Years Resolution is going to be to get myself back to normal and healthy again. DH has been able to help me on his days off, but he works too much as well and there's only so much he can do. So that's my holiday story. I currently have ostrich syndrome when it comes to my finances because I'm too ill to deal with them. I really really hope that my energy starts to come back SOON. I've been sick for almost a whole month now!
I escaped the hospital, but boy I was sick.
Lesson learned for Abby! Keep resting as much as you can. Kids won't die from a few weeks of unbalanced meals.
Yes, I definitely am! I had a problem because my doctor left the practice and they refilled my prescription twice but on the third time they said that I had to find a new doctor and come see them before I could get another refill. I was so angry! How could they deny me a maintenance drug???? I had just seen my doc 6 months previous for a full exam and bloodwork. So I switched doctors offices and they got me right in and got me a refill AND they are going to up my dose in 8 weeks to see if I can get in the 2 range because it will help me feel better and lose more weight. I'm excited!
Abbie
I hope you feel better fast and the antibiotics do the trick. But bad girl being off your thyroid meds for so long!
Been there. I got a series of repiratory problems, including pneumonia, after I contracted the swine flu. You feel like you have so little energy and you tire so easily, because your lung functioning is so reduced. You really have to treat yourself well, so you can recover faster. (I was sick for two months, and the experience of being an invalid for so long affected me long afterwards.)
Much sypmathy. Hope the new year brings you health.
Feel Better Abby!
