I haven't posted goals in a few months because I really wanted to take the summer off from thinking about money.  But I am back on board and ready to go.

1.  Reassess our home insurance.  We've made many upgrades and bought a lot of stuff, and I've never changed our insurance.

2.  Sign our wills!

I think that's enough.  We also have to schedule several college visits for 17yo DD and DH & I are planning a big 50th birthday party for two weeks from today with people coming out of town like it's a wedding, so we will have a lot on our plates.

Lets see how August went:

1. Start working out, even if I just walking if its not too hot. It has been super hot here! Start eating better.

I have definitely been walking. I haven't really been eating better but still doing ok here. It could be worse. I have not started working out yet.

2. Keep up with work and the baby

This is still going ok so far.

3. Don't think about actually going back to work yet! That is an order!!

Actually I have to work at the store 3 times in Sept due to staff scheduling conflicts. Twice it is on a Saturday so hubby can parent and my MIL is watching the baby one day. Not too bad. I still have not planned on when to go back to work full time or otherwise.

Sept 2012 Goals:

1. Planned a trip to see my parents. It is an 8 hour drive so we have to survive that. It shouldn't cost anything other than gas. Must meet all my ordering deadlines and prepare work for taking time away. Do things ahead of time.

2. Maybe start lifting some weights and treadmill prep. Plan for eating better for October.I am just not ready yet!

3. Get my new Mastercard set up to pay. We got a new credit card so we have a joint one with a better points system. I still have every intention of paying it off monthly. It will mostly be for groceries and gas to get the points. This way we won't have to write a check to a different bank it is the same one that the paycheck goes into. Pure convenience.

4. Try not to worry about not snowflaking. Every regular payment we make brings our net worth up and our debt down. Be happy with living on one paycheck and making ends meet. Because that is ok for now.(still making retirement contributions)

5. Prep for year end at the store, getting documents together and inventory. fun!

AUGUST GOALS

1. Get back on track keeping track of my debt. Even though I kept up with weekly accountability, I failed to do the once a month debt update for myself (this is for monitoring overall progress).

Yes, I'm catching up, even if not all at once. I managed to do my accountability for the second week of August a few days ago. Tomorrow I'll do my monthly debt summary.

2. Control my spending. I really need to do this, especially since the fall will be expensive with a work-related trip every month. (Work is not paying.) But it's really hard when I hit some bumps on the road. I'm so utterly alone.

Not so good on this.

SEPTEMBER GOALS

1. Make a snowflake and report to DSG!

2. Make a new summer savings budget. (I get paid 10 months per year, so I have to save up money for the summer.)

I love that vanilla idea! Mind if I steal it?

I did not put down an August goal, as I was still tackling the same goals from months ago:
Get situated in new career
Clean out office

WELL, I got the kids both back to college successfully with tuition, room and board paid for the term.
I am ramping up in my job and had a couple women's events this month that were really successful, and helped a few clients. So I am feeling really good, and very happy with the change.

AND I actually cleaned out the home office, and we are on our way to turning it back into a SUNROOM! DH and I talked and we are getting new flooring in there, not sure if I want to do a tile, or a carpet. We will bring furniture up from the basement I still had down there in storage from my old house (which I moved out of in 2008) and that will furnish it.

SO September goals:
-Finish transformation on home office
-Implement our CRM system at work and bust my rear to ramp up my client base
-Enjoy my 50th birthday and revel in the fact I am an accomplished, healthy and happy woman!

My August goals were:

1) start preparing for school lessons (we are homeschoolers) to start again in September.   I have been organizing our school book and supplies, selling what we don't need and going through and making sure stuff is in order to start math lessons etc.  Still on-going over the next week or two.

2) look into marketing myself (I do spiritual/alternative healing work) I have taken various courses and do healing work for family and friends (and their referrals) but have not actively pursued any new clients.  This will be on-going into September Not done.  My research into moving to BC has taken over!

3) paydown $700 on our credit line (car loan)  Done!  With Aug 31 paycheck coming, hoping I can put some more $$ down on our loan so it will be over $700 this month.

4) put as much extra into the Freedom Funds (mainly xmas fund)  II put $300 in our Freedom Funds and Aug 31 payday will see even more $$ going into the savings.

September Goals

  1. 1.  Keep researching moving to BC.  This includes a trip to BC to check out businesses for sale, places to live, community in general  and doing the number crunching.
  2. 2.  Paydown our car $500 this month or more.  With the trip to BC - not sure how much yet I will be able to put down on the car.  DH's overtime is the variable on this one.
  3. 3.  Put as much extra as I can to the Freedom Fund account.

August goals - $675 extra on mortgage - actually sent only an extra $300 to mortgage  the other goal was $600 into EF, actually added $1000 to our EF

September goals are to add $900 to EF bringing the balance to $4060!!  Lose 5 lbs, continue my exercise routine but add some better eating habits.  Finish picking up ingredients for Christmas presents, making homemade vanilla this year, already ordered the bottles but need to order vanilla beans, buy ribbon & make labels.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON THEIR GOALS!!

My August goals were:

I'm calling a mulligan on my August goals since I hit it on the 3rd (efund fully funded at $1k) :smileyhappy:

My NEW August goal is to add $250 to my vacation fund and pay off $250 of debt. Going forward any extra cash will be half debt, half planned spending :smileyhappy:

Not sure if I hit these goals because stupid me didn't track where I  started. Ugh.  I know for sure I flaked an extra $100 to the LOC and my efund is at $280 so I'm going to have to keep better track!

September Goals:

1) Keep better track of goals :smileywink:

2) Pay off the CC's (I used them to stock up on all the meat that was onsale for the dogs. They are now set for about a month and a half. I am going to try to pay off the CC's without touching the sinking funds (so I'm really flaking to the sinking funds)

3) $200 off LOC (its at $12,908 LOL so I remember come October)

4) $200 to the vacation fund (Its at $280)

It will be a challenge but I think I can!

August goals...

1) Continue moving toward cash only.  I'm due for an oil change and it's going to be one big lump with nothing saved, so this is going to reinforce the importance of this.
~ That was a fail this month.  While I kept to cash, I wound up borrowing from other envelopes that weren't being used.  Food is still the big kicker here.  I think I went over by about $30.  Giving myself more money isn't the answer, I just need to do a better job of sticking to the menus and lists.

2) FINALLY pay extra.  We have the money and payments worked out of the first paycheck already.  Once the second paycheck gets closer we'll have a better grasp on what we need to do.
~ Success!! DH and I now both have spreadsheets of what our debts are, the limit/original balance, current balance and interest rates.  I'm going to send him the updated numbers at the first of each month so we can decide what we want to put and where in terms of extra payments.

3) Back to school shopping.  I need to start getting DD some new clothes for pre-school.  She's outgrown her current clothes for the most part.  :smileysad:
~ More success.  I got DD a bunch of clothes on sale for her to wear during the year.  I got a couple outfits at regular price but did well overall.

 4) Workout/work clothes for me.  My clothes are pretty much stretched and shredded and I've been badly overdue for some new ones for awhile.  I may knock this out with DD's shopping :smileyfrustrated:
~ Semi successful.  I discovered I needed everyday clothes more than workout clothes so I got myself a couple new everyday wear shirts.  I'll get workout clothes eventually.

September Goals:

1) Continue working on food spending.  I'm 99% sure I know what the problem is (snack food) and I need to start being more particular about what I buy and keep in the house.

2) Start working out again.  August was not a good month for working out other than doing a lot of walking.  I was sick, my BP was still not well controlled and it just made it hard to get to the gym.  I need to change that this month.

3) Start setting aside money for the holidays and start making lists of gifts, stocking stuffers and other decorating and projects so that way I'm not getting my butt kicked come November.

My August goals were:

* Pay extra towards my mortgage principle. Knock off another few months here, I hope so! I am planning my mortgage payment now, setting up my online payment. I am applying extra to the principle, bringing my mortgage down by another 11 months, to where it would normally be in August of 2018. wow.

* Maybe choose a destination for a trip, hopefully the info I am waiting on becomes available. still waiting........

* Minor home improvements - lighting, bath fixtures. I would like to keep cost under $500 for everything. I did buy a couple items, a light fixture for $20, a mirror for $30. I had a lot of other expenses, somewhat planned - filled the oil tank ($650) and a cord of firewood($275)

My September Goals are:

* Pay extra again towards my mortgage. I am literally just taking this one paycheck at a time. when I had a huge debtload, I had to live paycheck to paycheck. When I got out of debt, I kept that mindset. Each week, I leave myself just enough for gas, groceries and planned spending. Every other penny goes towards something planned - even if it's savings, or as of late, my mortgage.

* Finish up the above mentioned home improvements. Purchase a vanity top for bathroom. $200?

* Decide on destination for trip, as mentioned above

Good luck everyone!
