I'm very proud of myself :)
I ran out to the dollar store today to buy some decorations for my admin assistant (her birthday is on Monday and she is fantastic). The dollar store is at the mall. There was a store liquidating a lof of products (home decoration type store). I had stopped by there before and saw a small side table that I would have loved for my guest room (all that I have in there right now is a bed). I am actively working on trying to make my house a home because I think that is a lot of my mental health issues. Well the table was marked down and I was thisclose to buying it.
But then I stopped myself. It wasn't in my budget and not having a night table isn't going to kill my guests (mainly my sister and best friend when they come into town). So I left the table at the store and still have all my cash.
I am back to a cash budget. This week is going to be tight as it is because of the bathc cooking I am planning with my mom

Good job on resisting the table. Do you have furniture that may not be a table but may suffice somewhere else in the house you could "borrow" while you sis is in town? I have two milk crates stacked on top of each other in my bathroom with towels on them. Oddly it works there. You don't have to go that tacky though, what about a TV try or a hutch or something unconventional?
I got DH a indoor/outdoor thermostat(the kind with the sensor outside) for a really good deal for Christmas. It was on sale for $24.99 from 69.99 at Crappy Tire(Canadian Tire). Our outdoor thermometer broke when we were doing the windows this summer. I hope he likes it, he hard to buy for. That is my small victory today. Plus my son's halloween costume said $29.99 on the tag today but maybe because I bought it so late they gave a discount because it was $21.65 at
I liked Gal's idea of using something unconventional. For a while we used those pretty boxes that stack inside of eachother. I acutally use them so they are full and kind of heavy, so it was stable, the perfect height, and looked pretty darn good actually.
Repurposing...that is what they call it!
