I have never realized just how expensive the stuff is; or, for that matter, how much I have been spending on it.

Caffine is another tough one. Especially our coffee!

I started making Foldgers on the days I work, as I can make the good stuff when I get to the office. My SO perfers Folders anyways. I haven't done the math, but I know I am spending less.

At anywhere from $8 to $12 a pound for good coffee, a pot a day really does add up.

This is a great post! I told my now husband once he moved in with me, if he wanted soda or junk food, he would have to buy it because I refuse to (and he hates grocery shopping).

OK, don't laugh, but I WISH we only spent $20 a month on pop. We are both picky and only drink out of the smaller and mid sized plastic bottles. Bad, I know. And we both smoke.

Sigh....(insert sad face if I wasn't on Quick reply)

Regardless, what ever it is that grabs our attention is always an eye opener.

For us, quitting smoking is on the forefront. I saw them mention of Chantix by another poster and I actually have that on my to-do list to day. Make sure insurance will pay for it.

I spend about $60 a month on smokes and SO probably spends double that.

Oddly enough it is tooth issues that is pushing us to quit. Mine is just starting and his is really, really bad. It will take thousands to fix his mouth.

Anyways, thanks for posting!

Yeah, I agree... becoming aware is part of it.

Scarier still to look at it as a year or $240! And on something that is so utterly bad for you, too! At least beer has barely, wine has anti-oxidents, and even a cupcake has proteins and good sugars, but nothing good in soda. No win there, kind of like cigarettes.
Amazing what we will spend money on, isn't it?

Its always amazing what our habits cost us. It could be a worse habit and we can't give up everything on this journey. Being aware of what you spend just naturally happens with this process. You then can decide to cut it or not.
