I'm so glad you guys take the time to post!

I've been feeling a little overwhelmed with the finances lately (always?) since we took the last month off on our debt repayment to pay for a vaca.  We had a great time, but at the same time it makes me a bit sick to my stomach to think about the money that has been flying out of my hands lately.  And since I was feeling overwhelmed, I just sort of threw in the towel all together ("sure honey, go ahead and buy whatever you think you need to get some things done around the house").

But I came here, and you guys make it so much easier to remember that I REALLY do need to stay on track.

So today, I sat down and did my July budget and made some hard decisions regarding where the money needs to go.  I still haven't balanced my June month end completely, but I'm going to set that down and go back to it in a bit.

Anyway, I just wanted to say THANKS!!! for those who post here.  It really is making a difference in other people's lives.

(and a specail THANKS to Bex, who took the time to check in even though she has some big issues going on . . . and, of course, ALWAYS THANKS to Karen who manages to inspire no matter what she's up to)

I got my August and September budgets laid out and it looks like I can put $1,000 back for Christmas with DH's extra paycheck that comes twice a year.  Beside that we are doing pretty good.  We're down to week #33 and under $18,000.

I've also been examining some other ways to say money.  I keep checking competition for television & cable.  I am checking on life insurance through DH's employer but that might have to wait until next April when the program opens again.  So far I've refused to shop auto & homeowners insurance rates because I know and have seen what cheap crappy insurance companies can do when you have a claim.

The job market in my small town still has nothing to offer at the current time.  The job I had inquired about will not actually happen until the end of the year.  In the meantime I'll keep my ears open wide.

Hope everyone in Canada enjoyed their holiday, as our holiday in the USA is Thursday.  Happy day off everyone!

Bumbling-

I tell all I see, that if money management was pure math, we would all be millionaires.  But money is a tool to use to express ourselves and therefore involves emotion.  Keeping those emotions on goal is not easy, and, like dieting, we need some support because it is so easy to go off course.

The best thing you did was not to keep your head burried in the sand, but keep it up and going!  We all need a break, but it is good that you just took a small break, and got back on track.

Also, I have to say thanks to YOU for being here as well.  Your views help me as well.
