I was driving home from work and saying things I had on hand out loud and my 15 year old just came up with a supper idea. I've never said the things out loud but it totally helped.

I said I've got bread, milk, stuff to make a salad, oh I have to cook that half pound of bacon, I have conidments lol, cheese...

Stop! Says the 15 year old. Bacon grilled cheese and pickles are calling our names!! I put out carrots and called it a meal!!

So talking out loud pays off, because that didn't even come to mind!

Now if I can just get them to pay attention and stop putting dirty dishes in a freshly cleaned dishwasher life would be sweet! They drive me a little bonkers sometimes, poor DH!

No tips or tricks from me, and I don't have fifteen-year-olds to give me ideas. So I'll share my menu.

I had a sweet potato for breakfast.

Good input from your son!

I still have a full freezer upstairs, freezer downstairs and stocked pantry, but I am shopping today to get some sale items and things we are out of, but for the most part, we are trying to plan meals around what we have in stock.

I can see how not planning really through things for a loop this week.

Kids can be helpful in that area sometimes. My DD12 is usually pretty quick to pick what she wants, also.

We tend to error on the side of NOT putting the dishes in the dishwasher. :)

My peanut butter story: DSS was kind enough to clean up his peanut butter mess.....and leave it all over the kitchen washcloth! Yea, I went to use the washcloth and got a hand full of peanut butter.

I know he had to move back to his moms, but you gotta' miss some of that at times.
