The motor is shot. It will cost between $600 and $800 to fix it because it's so old (and that's assuming they can get the part . ..

Sorry to hear it's toast, but you have done me a great favour - I was wondering how long my own furnace would last, especially since we just got a real cold snap. Mine is now ... let's see ... 23 years old. So I should start to mentally prepare that it may have to be replaced sometime in the next few years. I think my A/C needs to be replaced too, but I haven't used it much in the past few summers, so that could probably wait and I could do it all at once.

Hope that you manage to find a good deal on what you need. The rebate would be a bonus, for sure! (I always seem to miss out on those ...)

Sorry to hear this Bex. :(

Hopefully this time next year you'll be basking in your new super-lower gas payments and loving life.

Sorry to hear of the bad luck, Bex. This sounds like a necessary expenditure, though, so don't feel bad about going a little deeper into debt. In a way, it's just time we're talking about, right? Hope you manage to get a new, affordable furnace soon. It must be cold where you are. Stay warm!

Ok, aren't you glad you didn't start the basement apartment remodel now?

Ouch! But...it has to be done. What a thrill it will be to have a lower heating bill!

Oh.....Bex will have a lower heating bill, Bex will have a lower heating bill, oh yes, oh yes she will! (Pretend there is music and jumping and laughter all around)

Thanks Norma! I am eligible for a rebate of $1040 in total as long as I get the paperwork in by March 31 (which I am planning on asap!)

I agree! Let the Penguins deal with Murphy!
