Thanks to all who posted. I finally dealt with two issues Ive avoided for two weeks. The bill I posted on was my biggest concern. I called and at first he tried to play hard ball, stating the debt was 2 years old and that they probably should just take legal action. I told them I could pay $150 now (100 less than they wanted). He said that was ok but then he wanted $250 a month after that. I remained calm although at that point I wanted to say, just do it then, maybe ill just declare bankruptcy.

I'm so proud of you for dealing with this head on and being firm with them. It will give you huge peace of mind going forward to know this is an end date to this without legal action. One more step in your journey has been taken and you should give yourself a pat on the back!

Good job reaching out and demanding your own plan. Now look for areas to cut spending - car and house insurance are often a good place. Also grceries - make a meal plan for the week and use cash and a list - it can really help.
Again great job

Yea! It always feels better to take care of such things.

If you get in a pickle with the hospital, they would probably take even less, Of course their job is to get their money as quickly as possible, but our hospital here anyways has to accept even just $10 a month, but it has to be consistent. Miss a month and they can send you to collections.

Good job with the collection agency!
