Weekend Expenses

I love to see all the activity on the board!

What is everyone up to this weekend? Big plans or just lay low plans?

I work most of the weekend. That should keep my wallet closed. I might need to pay the boys some allowance. I feel a chore list coming on!

Lay low plans here :)

I worked today and plan to spend the rest of the day just going through old stuff and getting some Goodwill stuff together.  DD has a birthday party for a classmate tomorrow afternoon after I'm done with my workshop and Sunday is the NFL Playoffs so that will absorb me then.

Glad to hear about the reimbursement, poorboy! Good luck with the interview too!

Girlygirl- Keep fighting that flu, it's nasty this year!

Wow, lots planned for what I thought would be a quiet weekend.

PB - GOOD LUCK on that interview!

Bumbling - I am right there in the dumps with you.

Dee - Have fun at the game!

Bex, and other flu infected folks - get better!  Chicken soup, echinacea, water, water and more water and salt water nose drops are my tools.

Well we have a big weekend in terms of parenting this weekend.  DS(19) is bringing home his first girlfriend.  He never dates in high school (unlike DD21 who has had BFs since middle school) and he is excited to bring this young lady home to meet us.  We are going to stay in, as he wants to showcase his cullinary skills and make venison for her (I will make chicken breasts too, in case she has any issues with venison.)  I will also do a big crock of soup and make his favorite peanut butter cookies.

I was thinking of getting some pretzels to dip in chocolate if they would like to help with something fun as DS likes pretzel rods and I have a chocolate mold with Valentine hearts on it.

Other than a SMALL grocery trip for essentials, I really don't see spending much at all - thank gosh!

It will be a quiet weekend here. I'm fighting the flu. I was supposed to go to a "reunion" of old colleagues that I had worked with in the past, but sadly I don't think I can make it (I'm barely getting through the day).  I was going to a bday party for a friend tomorrow but his wife and son are down with the flu too!

So all in all it should be a quiet weekend. I do need a new bathmat, so that may be my big purchase :)

Good news! Some money finally came through. Remember I applied for, and got a grant around eight months ago? Well, they deposited it to someone else's account. After a few months of working on it, they finally got the money back, and I got the money in my account. So I got my first reimbursement check. Yay.

We had no plans. I had a birthday on Wed and it was a long, hard day.

Then I got an email - as an ice hockey player I belong to Hockey Canada - and they had a promotion for NHL tickets! Dh and I haven't been able to afford tickets since 2009! (hockey here is BIG and the tickets are over $200 in the nosebleeds). My class was cancelled tonight so I relieved my babysitter after only an hour  so she offered to sit for Sat! I hopped online and the tickets were still availabe. $110 for seats in the balcony. It will be $10 for parking and $2.50 for Dh's skytrain ticket.

So we'll be frugal the rest of the w/end :)

I have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off work! Hubby is too! :)  We will probably go to dinner one night. Other than that, we don't have much planned. Maybe read a book or 2. We are trying to keep the spending to a minimum!

I'm feeling a bit discouraged and blah this week.

Plans for the weekend - AS ALWAYS it seems since I've joined this board - is to lay as low as possible and not spend any money.  Not a big deal since hubby is still sick with the flu and probably should lay low anyway (he leaves on a business trip on Monday).

(I know this feeling will pass. It's been hanging on too long already. oye)

Nothing out of the ordinary here.  I may take the kids to use some of their gift cards.  We need to put gas in both of the vehicles.  And of course, we will probably have to make a grocery run Sunday or Monday.  But other than that, we don't have anything planned at all.  Maybe we will take our 16 yo out for steak since we didn't get to last weekend....

Good luck at your interview, PB!

PB:  I just got a few minutes and got to run.  Try visualizing a day of your "ideal life" (getting up in the morning in a nice place, nice commute to work, etc.) to get you in a better frame of mind.  Dearm of a "perfect" life.  Even though we all know that nothing is perfect, you need to concentrate on the positive side and worry about reality later.

GOOD LUCK!

Weekend expense:  Have some entertaining planned next weekend, so probably $150 grocery, $35 gas (tank is still pretty full), a car wash (prepaid).  A grand total of $185.
