Its Thursday,

What is everyone doing this weekend? Will it be expensive or not so much?

I have to go into the city. I was planning on looking at high chairs so I might buy one. I hope to get out of that store with only a high chair. But you know how that goes. We will see. I had $150 in mind.

Date night with BF. We are staying in and I'm making a fancy dinner. He is bringing wine. Even if I spend $30 on ingredients its WAY better than we would spend eating out.

Other than that I just need a quiet night. I'm all over the country in the next feww weeks and I want to just rest up for it!

I am about to say words that I have not said in YEARS........

I'm going on V A C A T I O N!   A short one, and I'll be working a golf tournament for hubby's company on Monday.  But YES, I get to have some well deserved time off.  Brief, but at least I get to get away from home, the farm, the animals and enjoy some pure old pleasure time with hubby.  I'll be back to work on Wednesday, but I am SOOOOO looking forward to this.

Hopefully we will stay well under $400 on this trip.  Rooms, air fair all paid by DH's company.

DD12 is having friend over on Saturday to spend the night. I have DD trained well, she told her GF to bring her own money. Tee hee....

It is so easy to run up the store for snacks and let those kids talk you out of $20 on junk. I just can't do it.

Her friends don't always like it, but they have a snack budget here. If we even go at all. If the cuboards are full, they have to find something at the house.

Having two friends over for dinner. Home cooking. Not expensive stuff. Hoping to use this time to catch up on everything. My body is so tired from all the activity this week.

Wondering whether I should tell DW & the kids about GF.

@Karen: good luck walking out with only a high chair.

@Bex: enjoy the date!

@Norma: a vacation! You deserve it! Hope your joints and your body in general are holding up.

Hoping for frugal.  Going to see my folks (3 hour drive) so will need to fill the tank.  I am also headed out to buy some canning jars tomorrow.  I am going to try (for the first time) to make some crab apple jelly.  I have tree full of them.  Wish me luck.  I have no idea what the jars cost so hoping they don't cost to much otherwise I might nix the jelly.  LOL

Wow, nice plans all, and I am really excited for you, Norma - well deserved!!

Like Bex we are staying in this week, but still continuing the birthday celebration (milking it for all I can, you only turn 50 once!)

Dinner we are making includes a LOT of grilling:
Appetizers: Various cheeses, grapes, smoked fish, tortas and harisa
Salad: Grilled romaine Ceasar salad with anchovies
Dinner: Various types of marinated chicken (tequilla lime, BBQ, Rosemary, etc.) Grilled zuchini with red onions and twice baked potatoes
Dessert: Grilled pinaple with ginger infused vanilla ice cream with a drizzle of 30 year balsamic
And we got a Pinot Grigio as well as some Cabernet Savingnon

Cost of dinner for 11 people last week: $600 plus dessert, Cost of all ingredients for this week (purchased at high end local deli), less than $200 and it will easily feed more than 10 of us.
That is a HUGE difference!!

My neice played soccer at that age and she used to complain that when a few of the girls came over, they left the cupboards bare. My neice is a social butterfly so everyone was ALWAYS coming over...my sister's food bill was well over $1000 month. I told her I would just say NO!

But I guess we'll see in 8 years how I manage that one, LOL. My DS2 is a BIG eater. He'll be having 10 chicken nuggets for lunch today. I fear the teenager years...

Try freecycle - you can get stuff like that off there all the time.

It will be very spendy for us:

Thus night was date night so $50 for dinner & $25 for the sitter

Today we are taking the boys to McDonalds ($25 WITH coupons, boy they eat a lot) & then shopping for a new Canada shirt and shoes for DS1 ($30).

Sat will be an afternoon hockey game for me (payment of $250 due) and then DH will probably get drinks/treats for the boys there ($10)

Sun I'm heading to listen to my friend's husband's band at the pub ($20 plus possibly another babysitter)

Aside from the cost, I think I'll probably gaine 2-3 lbs while I am at it...
