Weekend $$ Plans?

Its Thursday already!

In-laws are making us supper tonight. DH is out of town and I decided to not make coffee while he is away. I can get some coffee at my store as I make coffee every day and there is usually some left. Plus then I don't have to clean up the coffee mess at home.

Well, I'm broke.

The good news is that, now that I can't afford to go out anymore, I've been cooking and baking a lot more. Last weekend, I created what I called a "Terry's Chocolate Orange Cake" which was essentially an orange flavoured (with Grand Marnier!) cake with chocolate icing. This weekend, DD asked if I can figure out a homemade version of a "Cherry chip cake" (her favourite cake mix). I found a recipe that uses maraschino cherry juice and Ginjinha, which luckily someone at work gave to me after a trip to Lisbon. So I'm going to attempt to bake that torte.

I also haven't had a drink a quite a few weeks (thanks to a tummy problem that it seems I picked up in Afghanistan). I have a new prescription that seems to be working, so I'm going to indulge in a glass of wine on Friday night. And I bought a beautiful piece of 12 year old cheese to have with it, so I'm quite excited!

I hope to not have to leave the house AT ALL this weekend -- it's going to be cold and yucky out!

I am planning on having two friends over for dinner, but am planning to sit tight on my wallet otherwise. Maybe get back to the gym, now that my injuries seem to be better. I am watching my spending, since I've basically run out of money this month, having just paid the credit card bill for last month's groceries, gas, etc. (From this month on I am going to rely on cash only.) Work work work.

Why do I wake up tired? The day hasn't even really started for me, and I already feel like I'm ready for bed.

Sorry to hear about the bug, Kate. You've been to Afghanistan? Wow. I guess you didn't have to pay parking tickets there. Hope you can enjoy your wine without problems. I've been looking into baking cakes recently, too, but I am afraid the recipe always calls for some ingredients that my body may not be able to handle.

Have fun this weekend and enjoy our short time on earth with loved ones.

I don't have any real plans other than trying to bury some more of the in-ground dog fence that runs through the pasture field.

HI PB2011, yes, I was in Afghanistan for 3 weeks in April -- that's how long I've been having stomach problems! So you can imagine it's quite a relief to finally have a prescription that seems to be working!

What ingredients can't your body handle? I hope it isn't sugar!!

Sorry to hear your GI problems have lasted so long. I know how frustrating that can be, and I know what it feels like to have long-term pain in the mid section of the body.

Tonight is a stay at home evening curled up on the couch with a nice cup of Earl Grey tea and watching tv and surfing the net :)

Saturday I'll be in studio for several hours recording backing vocals for a producer I work with; earning extra money is always motivating!

Sunday I'll probably clean my place and do laundry, visit with my parents and cook some meals for the upcoming work week.
