Its Thursday.

I do not have to work this weekend. yay!

I am probably going to go to a movie with my girlfriend. Those are my only plans. That will be around $20.

Heading up to the cabin tonight for a 4 day weekend with my husband. Kids start coming home in a week, so this will be a nice weekend away for just us (and dogs.) We will have dinner out tomorrow night at a local diner that is just getting going (and we do need a restaurant in our tiny town up there, so we need to patronize it) probably $24 total. Then we are hosting a ham dinner on Saturday night for 12 or so. I have everything as I got a spiral sliced ham just after Easter. Then I will make pea soup the following day. Home Monday, and we would like to come back along the lake. It is longer, but enjoyable.

Originally I was up for a superbusy weekend, but then I got a little sick. The doctor still can't tell me what's wrong with me. But in the mean time I'm going to do less. So I'm going to skip out on some day-long events. But I still have other things to do.

So on the table for now: giving out awards to students at a ceremony (it's near graduation time), having dinner with a visitor speaker (on company dime!), and possibly kayaking at a nature preserve with some friends. In the mean time, I need to get more work done on my book. I also have some long emails to write to people who mean something in my life. My joints might have recovered enough so I can hit the weight room again. The kayaking trip is the only thing that would cost something.

It should be a frugal weekend.

Happy dance! (And happy dance for me, too: I went up by 20 lbs in the deadlift tonight!)

Congratulations PB! (And since you didn't party in college, can you start making up for lost time?)

Bex, glad you're heading back home, even if it's only temporary. It's cold and rainy in Ottawa today, so I'm sure you'll be happy to leave this city!

This weekend I hope to finish the dejunking project that we started on the Easter weekend. I'm not feeling confident that I'll get a lot done -- I'm exhausted. It's so busy at work and I've been working late nights to keep up with my added duties as manager. And I haven't been sleeping well, because I'm often too keyed up from work. So part of me just wants to sit on the couch all weekend and watch old movies and have naps *sigh* but I should probably try to be productive.

On the plus side, I put a LOT of work into running stats and making projections for staffing and workload. I did a full analysis of our work and the resources required to fulfil statutory obligations. It was a six-page report and I ended up having to meet with upper management 3 times to discuss my arguments. And hooray, I actually managed to convince them to give me back my full budget in order to keep an employee who was on the chopping block. I'm so proud of myself. The Federal Government laid off over 5,500 people this week and everyone saw budget cuts ... except for our team. We have our full budget and nobody was fired!

Not that anybody on the staff will ever know what happened. But I did tell DD, who replied tongue-in cheek "Well Mom, as you know, no good deed goes unpunished"

Nothing other than church! I will probably have to venture out to get a gallon of milk though.
