In the middle of our vacation the boss calls and tells my husband he's laid off of the gas rig. The week before they told him not worry they wouldn't be laying him off. so we went on vacation but suprize suprize!!!!!! they laid him off.
But it could be a lot worst than it is , our house is paid for and we have a car and truck paid for. we cashed our 401k to pay off our motorcycle cycle and tractor and a credit card ,still have our 2009 dodge charger superbee and a toyhauler trailer also some credit cards that have payments.
DH got his unemployment started in OK which is 331 wk after taxes less than AR 407 where we live but the company is just over the state line so we have to get it in OK.
We are trying to sell some things for extra money . DH is really good at fixing up tractors and 4-wheelers to sell. We have one already on auction hopefully someone will buy.
We will make it with the good lord's help
Not having a mortgage will be a HUGE help. Good luck with everything!
I hope things turn around for you and your family...
I will keep you in my prayers...

Oh, that really stinks! But hey, at least you had some family time, almost wish they didn't tell you until you got back, I bet. But at least you didn't spend like crazy.
I heard they are hire oil workers in North Dakota. If anything they need people there running equipment and supplies in if he has those kind of skills.
Can't remember, did you have children and do you work outside the home? That second income is a great backup for this.

Sorry to hear that...glad you had your mortgage and vehicles paid off though. Certainly puts you in a much better position than most ppl.
I don't know why they have lie like that to ppl. I know a lot of managers just have a tough time with the difficult conversations (easier to just leave a voicemail - that is how DH was laid off once!).
Hugs,
Dee
I'm so sorry for this bad news. I hope & pray your hubby finds a wonderful job soon.
