Worst...Gift...EVER.

You all gave us some great gift ideas for our holiday giveaways. We're going through all of the suggestions now, so you're sure to see them closer to Christmas!

On the flip side, we'd love to know about some of the WORST gifts you've received over the years!

I think mine was a back massager given to me by an old boyfriend. He and his father bought them for me and his mom so that they'd never have to give a back rub again! :smileysurprised: Such romantics.

What are some of the crazy, weird, or just plain bad gifts you've received?

LOL. First I would like to mention what I consider the best gifts...it is not the $$$ value of the item, but the fact that the person took the time to do some research and the gift demonstrates that the person knows who I am...that's the best gift for me.

If you look at it, then the worst would be a gift you can notice the person didn't even take the time to think about you. It feels like a forced gift. It hurts when it comes from a friend, because I rather have no gifts (if the friend had been busy, for example).

However, I was raised to accept all gifts with humility and thankfulness. I had my first Christmas gift when I was 10. It was a pair of runners. My first ones, as I had to wear special shoes for my feet back then. I was so excited that I slept with them on.

The worst? No having my family around during bad times...it's not a gift, but a curse.

My IL's got me maternity cloths for Christmas one yet. The worst gift ever. Ya I needed some cloths, but I would rather of had something I could use for several years instead of the 5 months I wore them.

I couldn't agree more! The joke in our house is about candles, picture frames and bath soaps because that's what one seems to give when you don't know someone well. We just have to regift them to people we don't know well.

Not to mention it has to be hard to pick out clothes for someone else!?

My MIL gave me a sweatshirt last year. Not like a college sweatshirt or anything fancy, just a plain green sweatshirt that was a size too small. She was so excited because she had found it on clearance for like $2. (Gee, thanks!) LOL

A floating chair for the pool. We didn't have a pool. The giver should have known that . . . it was my neighbour!

I don't know about the worst gift ever...butt my DH's family does a gift draw and there is one uncle who goes WAY big with his gifts, so in a round-about way, everyone wants his gifts.

LOL, oh my I am enjoying some of these responses! I agree that the worst gifts are those that haven't been given any thought.

My worst gift was a collection of rocks. I was 10 years old and I wanted Santa to bring me a Barbie corvette. My younger sister was given the Barbie corvette and I got this collection of quartz rocks, labelled so that I could identify them. I still have no idea where my parents got this item or why they decided it was appropriate for me. Maybe they had rocks in their head that year. It was a double-whammy: not only did I get rocks for Christmas, but my sister got my dream gift!!

One of the best gifts I ever got was from my boyfriend when I was 26 years old. We had thrown a party at my apartment on Christmas Eve.
