So I'm very happy to report that I stayed on track (actually slightly below budget) during my socially packed weekend and trip to Chicago.

Yes, IRS is a pain in the neck to deal with, but once you get a payment plan in place, it is not so bad. (that is, if you do have to pay it).
My SO had a mess up with his xW (the CPA that did both of their returns screwed up and gave them BOTH the EIC based on their DS) and my SO is the one they went after. Go figure.
Just keep copies of all of your correspondence, just in case you have to send more than one letter. You want proof of the "respond by" date.
Anyways, I am sure you already know all of that.
My SO had to prove he was DS father. What the heck? The kid was 16 years old! Can you belive it?
A $4,000 mistake, but I digress....
