Accountability April 1 2013

  • Okay, trying to get myself back on track here.
  • I have eaten out so much lately that I have drained my accounts and put on 5 lbs! Yikes! So yesterday I spent the day batch cooking and restocking my freezer. BF and I have agree to not eat out in April with the exception of my Dad's birthday dinner (which I have a $30 gift card for). I'm also looking into the possibiilty of using some points to get gift cards to cash in for it.

I spent $100 on the weekend on groceries for my batch cook day (well $80 on batch cooking and $20 on normal everyday stuff). I made enough food to stock the freezer. Added to what was already in there (its amazing what you find when you look) and I am hoping that this will get me through most of the month!

Aside from that it was a quiet weekend over here!

  • So, here is where I stand:

Car Loan as of 03/20/2013: 6235.72

Car Loan as of 04/01/2013: 6235.72

Difference: $0 (I don't think the payment I made last week is showing up yet)

Student Loan as of 03/20/2013: $18,524.07

Student Loan as of 04/01/2013: $18,547.11

Difference: $+ 23.04 (payment not showing up yet . . . stupid holiday!)

HELOC as of 03/20/2013: 11,554.39

HELOC as of 04/01/2013: 11,469.17

Difference: $ $85.22

Total debt as of Jan 6, 2013: $38,592.31

Total debt as of Mar 20, 2013: $36,314.18

Total debt as of April 1, 2013: $36,252.00

Difference from last week: $62.18

Difference from start of year: $2,340.31

Once those payments hit I *should* be out of the 36's!!!! Yay!

Well that was unexpected this weekend. I sanded and started to paint my bathroom. $88 later and allowance for the kids that did extra outside with DH. And I need groceries this week too. I am going out with friends on Thursday and that will not be cheap either.  Sigh.

Yesterday had a lovely meal that MIL cooked. I bought so many groceries at Christmas I donated the turkey to her that I got for free. So a win win. And I didn't have to cook.

I cannot wait until this truck payment is gone. Probably 11 more months unless we pay it off sooner.

We need to get doing taxes. I hope that goes well but I have no idea. Nothing in my life is ever the same from one year to the next. lol.

I hope everyone has a happy frugal week!

Lets see...

$64 at Walmart for groceries and some Easter candy.   Filled my tank.  $20 to my DS24.  I think that was about it.  Made my own latte's at home.

Went to "The substitute" Saturday night.  Some friends invited us to see this Easter play at their church.  Really good!  Then they took us out to desert!

SO paid for pizza.

ah . . . the best laid plans, huh? We had the best plans . . . went grocery shopping . . . balance our accounts . . . we were FINALLY caught up on everything and back on track so we had a little breathing room. I felt so good about things that we actually went out to eat on Friday (it was sosososo good) and I bought myself an antique bowl I've had my eye on ($20) as an Easter present for myself.. . . But . . . I ended up rushing the cat to the animal hospital early Sat morning . . . and later my mother called to ask me to pick up a few "extras" for her Easter dinner she was hosting . . . and then my parents truck developed a problem (and we are planning to take it for a 1,000 mile round trip later this week) that had to be fixed ASAP. Oh well. it's always something. I really can't complain. I've haven't significantly missed any financial goals this year yet. I've been making progress. And I remain determined to cash flow everything and not touch my $1,500 E/F. But for this week, we are completely out of cash to spend on personal things. And we will be starting next week down $137.17 (which really isn't bad considering). The best news is that the cat seems to be feeling better today :)

Hello everyone! Smile

Yaay I was finally able to sign in! I have been coming to the board every day but was unsuccessful in signing in and posting.

Here is my accountability:

-March was horrible as I was $200 over in gifts and personal care... and I managed to spend over $300 on restaurants and coffee shops even though I could have sworn I only ate out 2 times....hmmm so April will be a NO coffee/restaurant spending month (normally I am really good at this, not sure what happened Surprised)

-I have paid off my car, yaaay no more $530/month car payments!

-I have paid off over $7000 worth of debt since the beginning of January, plus $2500.00 in tuition. (I need to remember this some days when I feel like I'm not making any progress).

-This month debt repayment will slow down considerably as I will pay off next cc bill off so I am caught up to date instead of always feeling like I am one paycheque behind. First have money, then charge on cc!

-I also have $1500 due May 10th for summer tuition so I will have to save for that, so I don't expect any reduction in my current debt reduction for the next month and a half...

This is my current April situation:

-Filled up gas this morning $54.00

-Safeway groceries $65.00 (amazing considering I only bought 2 bags of groceries) healthy food costs a lot..urghhhhh

-My current student LOC is at $9900.00 and savings accounts are on hold until this is paid off....

Wishing everyone a frugal week!

I only eat out now & when I run off and forget my lunch!  All of my expense lately have been on car & truck maintenance.  Both needed oil changes (expensive on the diesel) and the car was in bad need of two tires.  At least we have paid cash for everything.  I still need to get our son the change the fuel filter in the truck,

All in well.
