How did everyone do? Let us know!

I spent $12 at a curling wind up and I worked most of the weekend. That is good I didn't spend much because my Costco trip last week was expensive as it always is!

School is cancelled again due to another storm! I have spring fever so bad I bought a few seeds for the garden last week with a little left over I had on gift card.  But there is 6 feet of snow in my yard lol. Oh my I need a little melty melty!

Have a good week everyone!

I stayed home except going to the Farmers Co-op to purchase the usual 3 wk. supply of horse oats for our last remaining horse Doc and some chicken crumbles for my 10 hens and rooster.  Hubby paid for this $29.00.

I worked in the yard all day Saturday redoing my flower bed at the front porch.  I recycled a lot of old things & I'm please with my work.  I did take out the little fish pond & filter/pump and traded it for some mulch from the nursery behind work.  Good swap for me.  Less physical work, but that what I wanted.  My parents have a lot of hosta plants to give me this spring, another good freebee.

Sunday was our 35th wedding anniversary.  Hubby purchase fillet migeons and I baked some sweet potaotes.  He also bought me a live green rose bush :)  We have enough steak left over for tonights meal.

Good frugal weekend.  Just like I want!!!!

  • I keep showing up late to the party hehehe

I've had such a spendy month that I feel like I'm worn out! Thankfully it all came from the sinking funds so it was planned to a degree. Now I just need to get those funds back up to a healthy place so I can start attacking the debt. I was hoping that my tax return would take out a good chunk of it, but sadly, it looks like my company didn't take off enough taxes and so I am either getting a tiny refund or I may owe a bit. Ick.

So, here is where I stand:

Car Loan as of 03/12/2013: 6368.06

Car Loan as of 03/20/2013: 6235.72

Difference: $132.34

Student Loan as of 03/12/2013: $18,643.45

Student Loan as of 03/20/2013: $18,524.07

Difference: $119.38

HELOC as of 03/12/2013: 11,648.49

HELOC as of 03/20/2013: 11,554.39

Difference: $ $94.10

Total debt as of Jan 6, 2013: $38,592.31

Total debt as of Mar 12, 2013: $36,660.00

Total debt as of Mar 20, 2013: $36,314.18

Difference from last week: $285.82

Difference from start of year: $2,278.13

The weekend was very frugal for me.  Spent $64 on groceries for the week, and didn't spend anything more.  Which is good, because we are digging ourselves out of the "discretionary spending" hole we dug last week.

Put $500 to the income tax sinking fund this week.

And managed only $188.97 toward the student loan debt.

(btw, I'm somewhat inbetween Karen and Norma - we have approx 3ft of snow - and just added another 6" last night . ..  yep, I'm ready for spring too!)

Our only debt (besides the mortgage) is the student loans.

Jan balance $24,769.96

Current balance $17,719.83

YTD Payments = $7,050.13

Wow, galstore, I have spring fever...but I think we are a little closer to spring than you.  Had a beautiful day outside on Sat, no jacket required...then a snow flurry yesterday, but not much snow on the ground. YEP spring fever is in full bloom!!   Spent a little more than anticipated on groceries, but needed dog food & some extras so that I could cook some meals for in laws & my MIL is waiting on hip replacement.  Felt really good about being able to help them out.  We have our 4 wheeler & trailer for sale & have a bite, should know by noon today if they will take it.  DH has some other plans for that cash that I'm fine with.  Should loosen up the budget a bit too.  Our roofer should start this week if the weather cooperates.  Can't wait for that, also thinking about painting our shutters...they are fiberglass, but I think they would hold would really give the house a much needed facelift!  Leftover steak & potatoes for dinner tonight, pre-made meatloaf for Tues, & premade tatortot casserole for Wed.

Have a good & frugal week everyone!

I went over in groceries by $50 dollars.  The basket shopping is coming in under what I budgeted.
