My goal for this weekend = create a realistic family budget.

For those that have done this before, did you use any special programs and/or apps?

Any other tips you could offer while I'm putting this together?  This is my first time really working with a written budget so I'd love to hear all of your tips.  Thanks so much!

Do you have Microsoft Excel? There are a lot of templates for budgets out there. You could even do it the old fashioned way with paper and pencil. I have been using Microsoft Money for years. You could use Quicken which tracks your spending and automatically categorizes your transactions for creating your budget. Another tool, and a very good one (and free), is Mint. You can link to your bank account and it will automatically make your budget and categorize things for you. I hope some of those suggestions may help! Chad
