I'm starting to stress out about holiday spending already... lol

I really hate being stresed out around the holidays and hope to plan a little better this year.

Do you set a budget for holiday spending?  Do you decide ahead of time how much you'll spend on decorations, gifts, events, etc?

I don't set a budget per se, but I know what we can afford.  If we can't afford it, we don't spend it.  I don't see what's to stress about.  You either have money, or you don't.  If you have no way of making more money before the holidays, then make do with existing decorations, go only to free events, skip turkey and roast beef, and give hand made or "coupon-i.e. 1 car wash; 1 night of babysitting" gifts.  All the "stuff" is NOT the reason for the season.  And you can give thanks with spaghetti and meatballs

No stress at all.  For the longest time I give homemade baked goods, jams, etc. and handmade soap as Christmas gifts and everyone likes them.

Agree with Sabrtooth 100%.  If you cannot afford it, don't spend it.  Simple as that.

I used to contribute to a christmas club fund through my bank each pay check and that was my budget for each year. I also used to pick up things throughout the year and stash it away which worked out well too, but I don't do either any longer. I am much more along the lines of less gifts, but more thoughtful ones than I used to be. I do try and stay within a range for parents, grandparents and in-laws.

Buying for our kids is usually the biggest expense, so we try to budget how much we're going to spend on each child.  We don't always stick to it exactly, but we try to stay as close to it as we can.

And, all of the expenses that will be coming up is one of the reasons I started selling Scentsy in addition to my regular job, so I'm hoping that will help!
