My husband and I recently became debt free except for our house (hooray) and now we're making a new budget and figuring out what we can put into investments.

This is exactly the type of stuff we are going through.

I hope you'll come back here with any advice your advisor gives you that would be interesting to others as well.
Personally, in the same situation, I would not send the kids to private school because it prioritizes an unknown positive over everything else - not to mention it pushes you to the edge of your budget.

I like what you said about being ok with having kids being saddled with 10k loans as opposed to 30k loans.
