Maybe it is me, but I simpy cannot open both the "pumpkin" and "creme brulee" posts!  Yell

Anyway, just based on the title, and without reading the contents, I thought I would make an attempt to reply since the board is kind of quiet.

Pumpkin:  love it, especially Kobacha pumpkin, tastes great and nutritious, but don't care much for the Atkins diet.  I know people who did very well on it; just not for me.  Eating reasonable sized portions (i.e., not American portions), exercise, and everything in moderation seem to work for me.  Part of the reason that I cannot do Atkins is I only get oragnic/free-range/local meat.  Because it is so expensive, I only serve meat a couple times a week and most meals are vegetarian.  Going on Atkins will at least triple my grocery bill!  Anyway, I can still wear some suits I bought when I got my first real job out of college so there is no need for a drastic change of eating habits.  (OK, those suits are a tad tight after the holidays, but should be fine in a month or so now that I am back to eating normally).

Speaking of clothes (digressing), I also found out as a country we ARE indeed getting a lot fatter.  I got a great deal on some fabric after Christmas and decided to make a dress.  When I dug up an old sewing book published in the early 70's, I was shocked that our clothing sizes have gone up so much!  For the most part I am a "modern" size 2 or 4.  Based on the 70's chart, however, I am a size 8 or 10!  Surprised

With that in mind, I don't think I want any creme brulee!  No, seriously, I have over-indulged during the holidays and actually tired of heavy, rich foods.  Trying to eat light for a month or so, but I might change my mind by mid-February as creme brulee is one of my favorite desserts.

Brenda, will you be getting together with your guy for Valentines' day?  Another special planned?

Hi Demontespan,

The page is giving an error because there are accents in the title. You should be able to open the crème brûlée post using this link:

http://www.ivillage.com/forums/home-garden/family-finance/frugal-living/fabulously-frugal/do-you-want-creme-brulee-valentines-day

Sorry I can't get the other one to open.
