Maybe it is me, but I simpy cannot open both the "pumpkin" and "creme brulee" posts!
Anyway, just based on the title, and without reading the contents, I thought I would make an attempt to reply since the board is kind of quiet.
Pumpkin: love it, especially Kobacha pumpkin, tastes great and nutritious, but don't care much for the Atkins diet. I know people who did very well on it; just not for me. Eating reasonable sized portions (i.e., not American portions), exercise, and everything in moderation seem to work for me. Part of the reason that I cannot do Atkins is I only get oragnic/free-range/local meat. Because it is so expensive, I only serve meat a couple times a week and most meals are vegetarian. Going on Atkins will at least triple my grocery bill! Anyway, I can still wear some suits I bought when I got my first real job out of college so there is no need for a drastic change of eating habits. (OK, those suits are a tad tight after the holidays, but should be fine in a month or so now that I am back to eating normally).
Speaking of clothes (digressing), I also found out as a country we ARE indeed getting a lot fatter. I got a great deal on some fabric after Christmas and decided to make a dress. When I dug up an old sewing book published in the early 70's, I was shocked that our clothing sizes have gone up so much! For the most part I am a "modern" size 2 or 4. Based on the 70's chart, however, I am a size 8 or 10!
With that in mind, I don't think I want any creme brulee! No, seriously, I have over-indulged during the holidays and actually tired of heavy, rich foods. Trying to eat light for a month or so, but I might change my mind by mid-February as creme brulee is one of my favorite desserts.
Brenda, will you be getting together with your guy for Valentines' day? Another special planned?
