Hi, whomever is out there!

I wanted to let everyone know that I have resigned as leader of this board, but will still be dropping in often! Health issues, a proposed move and "talking to myself" on the board are all pieces of my decision to pass this along to someone who might be able to rejuvenate it. I LOVE iVILLAGE! It took a lot of thought and meditation on this to come to the place where I decided I had to leave. I don't feel I can do the kind of job that I would be proud of with so many absences and illnesses and all. Anyone interested in taking over???? PLEASE???

I would hate to see this board close down. It's been a valuable resource to me and hundreds of others. So many are crafting now, too! But, they come and read and don't post!

Thank you everyone, posters, CLs and CMs for a long and stimulating relationship. I'll still be around. Maybe further away than I was, though. We are working on plans to move to Hawaii next year for 6 months to a year. I just seem to do much better there and have those warm tropical waters to swim in (as opposed to Puget Sound....brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!) Each visit I've been more mobile, relaxed and had less pain. We thought maybe a LONG visit would really help slow down some of the health problems.

No Aloha until next spring....we'll have to go over and find a place and finish dealing with 1,000,001 details before we actually cross the threshhold of our Hawaiian "home away from home".

Hi Marti, I saw your post's title on the main page so decided to stop by. I am not a crafter but I remember you from Living Simple and Green. I'm sorry to hear that your health issues are becoming more problematic. I hope that the relocation to Hawaii does the trick. Which island are you thinking of? Are you planning on renting out your current home? Best of luck with getting everything organized, it does sound like a big project but one with a nice reward at the end!

Planning on Maui....and son, niece and fiancé and possibly a grand-daughter are hoping to hold down the fort here. House is paid for so we can charge low rent so they can handle utilities! Ad yes, it's one of the biggest projects I've ever undertaken without a full staff to assist! Thanks, Elc for replying.....there's been such an echo in here!

Thanks, Lorie. There are just too many days when I'm unable to get out here to the computer or have doctor appointments or medical related tests or therapy.......the board needs more attention than I can give it and I really wanted a busier board to inspire me! ((((HUGS))) back....I'll still be around....just not as a CL!

Sorry to hear that you will no longer be the CL here. You won't leave here completely if you move, will you? Will you 'snow bird' in Hawaii - 6 months there in fall and winter, and 6 months in Washington during spring and summer?

Keep in touch. Smile

Oh, no, Ginny! This will be a one-shot thing. We're keeping this house and will be renting one there for 6 months to a year. I will have a computer and will keep in touch! I'm planning to get a laptop but to leave the desktop machine here....and I'll have my cell phone and we're talking about getting Vonage for over there. Going to keep paying the phone bill here so we can keep the number, too....so there'll be all sorts of ways for me to communicate still!

That is what confused me - You said that you will rent a house for 6 months to a year - I just wondered if that meant you would go back and forth between HI and WA, or just have a short lease.

Isn't it a bit expensive in HI? I had an online friend who lived there, but moved because it was so expensive - I lost touch with her, but know that she moved to Alaska. LOL

Yeah, it's pricey! Everything costs more but we're fairly frugal folks anyway and this place is paid for and will have renters in it to take care of utilities and yard care, etc. We're debating the length of the stay, still. It's a long time to be away from family, friends and cats! Does look like we'll be going over in August with an eye to moving in September, though. Means two trips in one month but we have to see what we'll be renting/leasing and then return for those things we'll need if it isn't furnished or fully furnished. Thank all the powers that be that I have already been cleaning out and packing away some things. I have a HUGE pile in the living room of things to go to charity and have given loads of things to the kids...clothes and stuff they collect. We may end up with Alex going and my SIL. Kind of convoluted and complicated to tell! I can't imagine Alex spending a year away from is girlfriend and also having to bicycle everywhere since my car is going for ME! It may be expensive but it might also keep me alive longer and lower the pain level. Good thing we've been thrifty people or this wouldn't be possible! I think I still have your home e-mail.....you might want to send me that and your phone number to be sure I can keep in touch with you!

WOW! That's a lot to do. You're bringing your car? How do you do that? I hope this move helps your health. Smile

My email address is still the same, and if you lose it, it's on all of my messages in my signature (it still won't allow me to delete it).

Marti, where on Maui are you hoping to rent? We vacationed there last year and stayed in Kihei. I'm guessing you'll want that side because of the nicer beaches? I loved how warm the water was. I live in SoCal and almost never go in the ocean here but I swam everyday while in Hawai'i.
