Go to http://www.ivillage.com/crafts/6-k-21064 and then hit page 2. The picture of "Home Decor" is actually a picture of the kitchen of the dollhouse I made! LOL
Wow~ Big surprise, isn't it?
Nice settled kitchen!!
It metallic luster really dazzled my eyes. Well, love the design, very ingenious by adopting an original approach!
Very cool deco!!!How talented you are!!! Well done, I will learn from you to help my mom to deco the ketchen.
I thought it was a little odd to find a miniature kitchen shown for home decor...which usually means a people place! Kind of neat though...yeah!
It's very detailed.....behind the little curtain are rows and rows of painted matchbox drawers...each with utensils or hot pads or kitchen towels or other essential stuff. Also some shelves for kitchen pots and pans or colanders or such!
Except for the stove and refrigerator, everything is handmade. I copied, as best I could, the stainless steel backsplash from my own kitchen. Everyone told me it couldn't be done without plywooding the walls first, but we proved them wrong and stuck it straight onto the wallboard.
My own kitchen accents are red, but I decided to go for a lighter color since the room is sort of small. I'm in the process of doing some remodeling now.....not on the kitchen or dollhouse kitchen , but adding center wheels to each side (It's hinged.) because the weight was bowing the floors and popping the nails out of the side walls. We've had to move it twice and it needs reinforcement for that that I hadn't considered in my planning.
First of all, if you're remodeling your own kitchen, count on it taking at least 5 times as long as you planned to start with! LOL! We ran into problems to solve and other things that had to be done before you could do this or that. We refloored, redid all the cabinets and drawers, put in a new hood fan, changed the countertops, put in a double stainless steel sink, repainted walls and ceiling, put in new light fixtures (one of which we had to make to get what we wanted....well, we had to redo a purchased one) removed a curvy piece of wood between cabinets and above the window and did all new window treatments, bought a new stove and are very happy with the final results but it took forever and WHAT A MESS! All of our non-refrigerated food was in the livingroom while we did the cabinets...plus dishes, pots and pans and everything else from the kitchen. I couldn't find utensil holders so I bought great big candle jars from Michael's and used glass spray paint to make them red. With paint all over, we had to cover the fridge and we had to duck under painters' cloth to get in there.....IF we could find anything to eat off of or eat with in the jumble of boxes of dishes and silverware! It was a lot of work but we're proud of the results!
Odd that it's under Home Decor, but your dollhouse is amazing! What did you do with it?
Right now, it's in the studio. Planning to do a little remodeling. The furnished house was so heavy it needs wheels in the center, too. It was bowing and pulling at the sides! (I did get offered a BUNCH of money for it....no way!)
So, once we get the attic cleaned up (squirrel invasion!), then I can get at that project and put all the furniture and accessories back in it!
I thought it was kind of neat that it showed up under home decor. Wasn't aware we had so many Barbie Doll members on i-Village!
