Watching for HMS Bounty sinking updates

As a modelshipwright will be following the USCG search for the captain of the HMS Bounty replica, several times daily. Let's pray for Capt. Robin Walbridge locating and his survival. Capt. Walbridge and Claudette Christian were washed over board when the ship capsized and were unable to get in the inflatable life-rift.

Claudette Christian was located and pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital. Claudette was a descendant of Bounty's original mutineer Fletcher Christian and valuable member of ships' 12 crew.

Tallship's like the Bounty are notoriously unstable, and susceptible to capsizing due to the high meta-center combined with rounded molded hull. In the event of capsizing the crew has to content with the miles of rigging, masts, and spars which may strike or entangle them.  See attachment for rigging double click for detail. Ed

It's cool that you not only replicate the ships, but learn their history as well. I'll bet you get a lot of interesting facts, factoids and trivia from researching those ships you build. It must also make them more "real" you visualize so and so standing here or in the riggings, etc. Educational as well as crafty!
