Daffodils in bloom!

It's official!  We have daffys in bloom!  Not mine, but I've seen them all over town this week!  Mine are usually later than most.  Is anything happening in your yard?

I have Rose of Sharon that needs pruning before it gets much further along.  It's budding.  Rose of Sharon can be aggressively pruned in spring before leaf buds open, to 2 feet or so, and will develop more side shoots.  Unpruned, a rose of sharon will be a small tree, 10-13 feet tall and nearly as wide.  Mine are foundation planted to I will have to manage them carefully, to keep them shrub sized.

My gardenias are looking well, and there is one in my neighborhood that I want to get a picture of this year.  It is HUGE, about 12 feet tall, and stays covered in blooms all summer.

The tulip magnolias are blooming this week too!  Both pink and white, I have seen both.  YES, Spring is coming!

With three inches of snow on the ground (and it isn't finsihed yet), I HOPE nothing is happing in my garden! LOL

Up through January, DH's daylilies were showing signs of green, but in the last two weeks, several Alberta Clippers, with associated snow, wind, sub-freezing temps and freezing rain, have knocked them back into seasonally-appropriate dormancy.

Envious here!

We do have robins --- they have been stripping all the crabapples of berries since there are no worms to eat... But more snow is predicted for this weekend and for Tuesday so we still have no other signs of spring.

No blooms yet but there are daffodil leaves up about 2 - 3 inches JUST today (when it hit 60+)!

I sure wish daffs knew that March in NW Ohio is NO guarantee that spring is coming. It's been known to snow in MAY!
