We don't plant dahlias JUST becasue one has to dig them up if one wants them to grow the next year around here. Ditto glads and a lot of other tubers/bulbs like that. Lack of suitable storage space is part of the issue but also we just have more than enough to do in the garden without digging up bulbs and replanting them every season!
