Dh built a cage to go around our 4x10 garden spot, it has a top on it. Tonight we went out to check on it & those darn deer were able to get the cage & ate some of my Walla Walla sweet onions. Darn deer, is it deer hunting season yet? Because I'm really getting sick of them in my garden.

Oh no! Several years ago my hubby and I bought a house right by a state park. We though it was great until I woke up one morning and saw a deer peering into my back door. It was standing on my deck! With the deer, rabbits, racoons, and skunks destroying our landscaping and garden we finally got fed up and put up a privacy fence and got a couple of cats. No more problems. :)

We have 3 cats. We live in the middle of a small town, we problely have over 1000 deer living inside city limits. (we are between Tacoma/Fircrest & Puget Sound) it's really weird to be sitting in your front room in the middle of the day & look to see 2 or 3 deer walking around your front room. I teasing told my sister (who bedroom is on that side of the house) that she needed to sit out in a yarn chair & guard the garden. I got a F You from her.

Oh Sam, I feel for you! We've had the same problem. The first year here the deer at everything. The second year we built a fence which they hopped over and ate almost everything. This year we had to cage anything outside of the greenhouse. Here's what we did:

The rest of the things are growing inside the greenhouse, behind those potted tomatoes and sunflowers you see. That seems to be the only way around the deer.

Can you post a photo of your cage? I'd love to see it! How did they get in? And I had to laugh that they ate your onions because I keep reading that deer don't like onions, but they ate ours too last year!

Even though my home is NOT in the "country," so to speak, we have issues with deer, raccoons, rabbits, armadillos, possums, coyotes, and even foxes.
