Where can I get free vegetable seeds?
Tina, do you know anyone who gardens, especially if the garden with heirloom varietals? They may save seeds and you might be able to arrange a trade with them...
Some food banks dsitribute free seeds because they are trying to encourage their patrons to try gardening for better nutrition, but they don't mail --- you have to be close enough to pick them up.: http://www.dinnergarden.org/needSeeds.html
And here is a list of other resources: http://garden.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Free_Vegetable_Seeds
Hope that helps!
Good suggestions, Carol! We save seeds from our harvest here. Calling a local master gardener or the local extension office might be a good idea too. If you live close to a University that has an agriculture program, they might have ideas too. I am not too far from Mississippi State, AKA Cow College. They have a huge marijuana farm, LOL! Their greenhouse project is phenomenal. http://msucares.com/
