Ok kind of, but not really new at gardening and need a refresher..

First off, you CAN plant closer than seed packets say. Great weed control too, IMO! That's a good sized area and you may want to experiment with different varieties to see which grow best for you. Or maybe plant a couple of varieties with some that bear earlier than others, giving you crops for a longer period of time. Don't worry --- one never knows, despite the catalogs, what will really be a success although you could ask your local nurseryman! They usually are well up on what grows best locally (at least ours is!).

Anyway, make sure your taller plants (the ones you are trellising and any indeterminate tomatoes) are NOT blocking the shorter ones from the sun. If you are making your rows go east-west, I'd put your tall stuff in the northernmost row.
