After a week of reacord-breaking temps, a night of steady rain, a morning of pea-soup fog... and with every daffodil up, the tupip trees in full bloom, and the serviceberries and rebubds starting to bloom (our weeping charry is bloomed and gone --- in three days, it went from white, to pink to depressed looking! --- and the witch hazels are leafing out...), the weatherman annoucned cheerfully last night that a freeze is likely late Tuesday/early Wednesday!

Oh no Carol!!! Is there anything you do - or can do - to protect some of them? Obviously the trees are too big to help, but can you cover the smaller stuff?

I'm really nervous that that's going to happen here too. Our iris leaves have started to come up, but they're pretty tolerant of the cold weather.

Trouble is, the daffs are spread throughout the whole quarter acre so they will just have to fend for themselves.

It always makes ya mad when you think your spring is off and running, and you find out you are wrong.

Carol, did you get a frost or freeze last night? Are they calling for one tonight? How are your plants doing?

We lucked out! Apparently there were two hours below freezing early Tuesday AM and then clouds moved in and so the predicted hard freeze Tuesday night/Wednesday AM didn't happen. It was actually in the 40s by morning! Still a few days in the

"Oh, and a sure sign... our mowing-mad neighbor is out there right now, mowing the grass paths between DH's beds! DH hasn't had his mower out since a year after we moved in; she mows her two lots, ours and sometimes the vacant lot across the street! Says it's her exercise!"

ROFLMAO!!!
