Yesterday I used Round-up to kill the grass in the cracks of my driveway.

I don't use it for personal reasons - I am vehemently against Monsanto, who makes Round Up. I also don't live in an area with pretty lawns though. We basically live on the side of a mountain, so weeds are not as obvious or obnoxious here.

DH uses it, sparingly. He has a spray bottle with a fine stream that he uses to hit specific plants. We have a problem here, with our clay soil and (therefore) poor drainage with horsetail (equisetum) which loves waterlogged soil,

I can relate on the plant-by plant thing.

I have used it in certain situations, basically to kill a pepper tree. We had it cut down and the stump ground but the roots had gone all over the yard and start new trees from the root lines. Full strength Round Up is the only thing that can kill them and even it doesn't always work...its been almost 3 years since we cut it and I'm still dealing with pepper tree sprouts coming up.

Yep, I have used vinegar, and it works even better if you use it boiling hot.

A blow torch? Hmmm, that sounds like fun!

I found out about the boiling water by accident, I had a big pot of water left from blanching veggies last summer and figured I'd pour it outside instead of down the drain...whoops! At least I poured it at the end of the weeds that pass for lawn (not to be confused with the weeds that we don't water so they turn brown during the summer) so I didn't have to see the dead spot every time I looked out there. Thanks for reminding me about that, I probably would have done it again this summer!

I haven't tried

I have another great way to kill EVERYTHING, and GUARANTEE that it will not grow back.

With the fire that is still raging here near our house, I will have to forgo the blow torch. I'd be afraid I'd burn the state down!

I think I'll pass on the tequila-puke weed killer, but thanks for the idea LOL!! I know that my kids had a couple of ragers here while we were out of town but the weeds were still healthy when we returned so maybe their friends don't drink the right things...at least for killing weeds.

What a nice sister you are...after the first such party I probably would have told brother to find other lodging.
