Tulips growing on counter in vase (with bulbs)

Hi! I have some tulips in a vase (with bulbs attached) that are growing but are starting to die out. How can I transitition them to the ground?  I think it's still too cold for them outside (we just had 3" of snow yesterday). When they die how should I handle the bulbs until I can put them in the ground?

Hi! I haven't done it personally, but here's a link I found for you.

Good luck!

The general rule of thumb is to let the plant die completely back, then plant the bulb in the garden.  I have a pot of calla lilies that I am going to transplant when they die back enough.  They were a birthday gift from my sweetie.  Tulips don't fare well here in the South, it gets too hot too fast.  Likewise we don't do well with lettuce, broccoli, and sweet peas.
