How interesting! I have a piece of congress cloth that I am to use as a doodle cloth. I am trying to think of how to make this as attractive as possible. I might frame it and enter it a show!! Who knows. This makes me want to try her floy stitch. I do know this stitch but she certainly uses it in very interesting ways.

I'm looking for the right piece of cloth as well to make something like a bansd sampler . And I had the same thought --- if I can make it "pretty" enough, it might make a good fair entry. Only trouble is, it won't be all of 2012 byt the time the fair entires have to be in --- only half way there. So maybe I'll reserve it for the 2013 fair instead...

Here's my fly stitch band... nothing fancy (It's been a LONG time since I did hand embroidery of any note and I need to get the technique down before trying - probably unsuccessfully - to get fancy with it!):

The fabric is a silkweaver 28-ct Jobelan called "Dreamin" and the floss used so far is Gentle Arts Sampler threads: "Green Apple" for the fly stitches and "Bretheren Blue" for the date (The date is from a
