This week's stitch is the Feather Stitch: http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2012/1/17/take-a-stitch-tuesday-week-3.html You can find instructions on how to do this stitch here: http://inaminuteago.com/stitchdict/stitch/buttonhole-feather.html. I was surprised to find that she considers it a variation on the buttonhole!

Carol, I really like what you are doing with this. You said your stitching bands are 6 inches wide. I am wondering about the total length of your sampler. How many weeks does this run? (I could probably find that out by going to her site and actually reading it, but it is easier to ask you!)

Good question adn I have NO clue how long this will end up. If she is true to her goal and posts one a week, that's 52 bands. These three bands and the title right now are

Wow! That would be a long sampler! Maybe the stitch journal is a good idea.

I know what you mean. I can see some "scnic" uses of some of these stitches (seaweed , maybe, and one of the Cretan stitches look s a little like a rail fence to me) but, for the most part, they are outlines or seam treatments. I'm clearly stuck in a rut there...

These ladies seem to see beyond the stitch to some very creative pieces!

I like how they all seem to be playing with color too --- I got into a one color, various shades rut on the first four weeks and it turns out that these stitches really need color to show them off, I think...
