lThe atest Janet Perry "Mini-Sock", Jewel, competed on Friday, January 18:

The "jewel" is Kreinik silver braid ((#16 braid, color 001) while the purple background is DMC 208. 209 and 2011. The instructions called for four coordinating colors for the background but I didn't have another purple that quite matched the three (purple is a hard color to match, IMO).

There is still the mitten to do --- I only have a few of the silver stitches in at present.

Two more completions yesterday.. the "Jewel" mitten:

I discovered when I started this that had two DMC skeins of 209 but they weren't teh same color! AAACK!

And the BJP for January 2013 which I'm calling "Snow & Ice":

Well Carol, the 2 different shades of 209 should solve your 4 colors of purple problem!  LOL!

These are all quite pretty by the way.

Trouble is, I only had one skein of the 209 I used on the sock! And it was only enough to do the sock... Not enough to do more than one more row in the mitten and I didn't discover the color difference until I had to start a new strand from a new skein.

Here's my Crazy Quilt Journal PRoject block for January...

I'm going monochromatic this year adn becasue I burned out on blues and greens last year, I'm trying a little something different --- yellows, oranges and reds! Wink Thing is, yellow isn't a very "January color" in my book, so I threw in a showflake to winterize it up a bit!

I alos did my TAST  yesterday --- knotted feather stitch.:

I used a variegated #5 perle cotton on white DMC linen for this one...

Color through the Ages "Art Deco" needs to be kitted out and I still have "Red Thai Mandala" to work on... as well as catching up on finsih-finishing those 2010 and 2012 BJP sets...  And of course, I should be planning and ktting out next month's BJP and CQJP pieces too... Here's hoping I can get cuaght up with January assignments before January runs out!Foot in Mouth

One more (can you tell I'm putting off getting back to "Red Thai Mandal"?):

It's lesson 11 in the "Color Through the Ages" twinchies by Janet Perry, and uses DMC 310, 3706, 5282 and E677. I THOUGHT I was electing a silver metallic but when I started stitching with E677, it turned into a pale pale gold. Since ripping out DMC metallic is a PITA, I decided to leave it even though it isn't really Art Deco in feel any more.
