I did when we lived in Saudi... and it isn't easy beacsue you can't see or feell the fabric, which is critical to most sewists and quilters...

Here are some tips and tricks from QUILTY: http://www.qnntv.com/videos/1078_buying-fabrics-online-tips-and-info/

How nice to have an online shop that acts like a local shop, being so helpful and all. Thanks for the link --- I'm sure it will be appreicated by all our fabric-olics!

I know what you mean about shops having a limited range of fabrics/ dsigner lines. I guess that has more to do with what they know will sell in their regions/market area but it does more or less limit others in the area with different tastes. I now I love browsing on shops in other states to see what is popular there, and sometimes wish I could convince our tiny little local shop to broaden thier selection of afabrics (they seem fixated on 30's and Civil War -style fabrics, definitley not MY style).  I suppose a local shop would order for you but that would be much like buying online, woudln't it?

Who are your favorite fabric designers?
