Stitchery Burn-out? Ever have that problem? It is a real issue for those in the Stitchery business, where you have to be creative on a deadline but I think it happens to us amateurs as well. I know it has happened to me --- nothing in my stash appeals and while I "need" to stitch, I can't find anything I "want" to stitch! Here, a pro offers some tips on how to overcome burn-out: http://www.quiltingismytherapy.com/2013/01/21/the-business-of-quilting-burning-out/

I am sure it happens to all of us and I am sure it has happened to you and me in our stitching of the kimono. When something takes forever to complete, even when you are making progress, you sort of lose your way and the colors don't blend as well as they did and you are longing to start something, anything, new!

But then the overwhelming need to stitch grabs ahold of you again you get a breath of fresh air and start something else! I think this is the reason we have so many UFO's!

You are so right! I have found that if I don't slog through that period of being sick of a piece and put it away instead, I will rarely get it out again and it rapidly becomes that dreaded UFO where I can't figure out a) why I ever wanted to do that in the first place and b) I can't figure out where I left off in the chart or pattern which puts me off even more...

On the other hand, starting something new doesn't always work for me since that means BOTH pieces are slowed down, each by the other! That is why I have struggled (not totally successfully) over the past few years to clear the decks of UFOs. They sit there, glaring at me and interfering with all the new things I want to do!

I think I can just finish it at a later date but then I can't find the instrustions and/or the threads and heaven help me if I haven't purchased enough thread in the first place. Or I do finish it but I can't return the extra threads that I purchased because I have had them for too long!!
