Check your needle... that is the usual cause. Here's a troubleshooting tip about skipped stitches:

Thanks, Carol! I will check my needle, because it is a great big possibility that it is bent. Like I said, I broke about 4 just making the one stocking. I have altered the pattern a bit so I don't have to try to sew through 4 layers of folded burlap.
I will definitely post a picture..if I ever get them finished. lol.
Thanks for the links!

I hope that changing your needle is all it takes to fix it! You should probably use a somewhat heavier needle the next time, maybe even a jeans/denim needle.

It is also possible that you have knocked your machine out of timing in the process. If that is the case then it is not a self-service fix.

Thank you! I had my needle in backwards. LOL! Flipped it around and it worked like a charm.

Luckily, I have finished my stockings, with absolutely no needles left. Broke 3 today. So, I will be picking up some regular and heavy duty needles soon.

LOL! Glad it was something so simple.

Whew! Glad it was that simple a fix! Get a variety of needles so you don't run into that problem again - which reminds me that I need to buy more needles myself, having broken three the last time I used my machine!
