We posted a series of possible resolutions for knitters down in the Yarn folder: http://www.ivillage.com/forums/home-garden/hobbies-crafts/stitchers-niche/yarn-works/resolutions-knitters , many of which, if you change the word form knitting to sewing, would apply to quilters as well.

Do you have any 2013 resolutions for your sewing? Here are a few sewing specific resolutions to get you thinking: http://seekatesew.blogspot.com/2013/01/new-years-sewing-resolutions.html?showComment=1357138348514

Well, I have made an attempt this first week of 2013 --- although I couldn't put in one hour a day with my machine, I did average that. However, of the sewing I did (I'm assembling my  2011 Bead Journal Project pieces into a wall hanging), I've ripped out as much as sew! Not the machine's fault --- mine! But it doesn't help my patience!

I did manage to relaod a bobbin in less than my usual three hours of blue language, though, so progress is being made!

Good luck with the sewing! I haven't made a garment in years, but I occasionally use my machine for crafts. I made a camera case insert with dividers and a camera strap cover recently. Mostly, I use my machine to mend or repair things, like the straps on my daughter's new backpack wouldn't stay done up, so I sewed them together. Also, my daughter takes ballet and they put on a show every year, and I do a lot of altering of costumes for those.

I personally am now a "sewist". I have never sewn a garment or a toy or... My machine gets used as an adjunct to finish-finishing, mainly, when I attach backs to pillows and the like; although of late it does participate heavily my my CrazyQuilt Journal pieces...

I have signed up for a "get to know your sewing machine" class on Craftsy, however, and I hope to actually TAKE that class, now that it's bought, paid for and in my class listing there. Perhaps in that one hour a day minimum I plan to dedicate to my sewing machine, this will actually be a resolution that gets accomplished! Assuming, of course, that I actually acomplish the one hour a day resolution, that is!Embarassed
