I know several of you have done some traveling in Colorado and the surrounding states. I was just wondering what some of your favorite sights were?

We're hoping to do some fun weekend trips (probably camping) with the kids this summer. I'd love to take them to Mesa Verde to see the Anasazi Ruins and to the Four Corners area. I've never been to a ghost town, but I know we have many in the state. I'm also thinking Glenwood Springs would be fun for the hot springs.

Any other ideas or things you've enjoyed? Being in central CO we can also hit Wyoming and Nebraska. New Mexico and Arizona are a bit further, but we could always make a long weekend out of it.

My favorite memory of Colorado is Rocky Moutntain National Park. We camped there back in 1967 when we drove cross country from Ohio to LA to start grad school. Spent a week hiking the trails and loved every minute of it (even didn't mind the altitude headaches I soon discovered I was prone to!).

It's been years since I've been there. I went camping with a girlfriend once, near Estes Park. We had a new tent and not much else. You should have seen us trying to start a fire with the lighter fluid for a charcoal grill. Oy!

We were in CO a couple of years ago and visited Garden of the Gods. The different rock formations were very cool and it was fun to try to "see" the thing or shape each rock was named for, do you think your kids would like that? We watched people climbing a sheer rock face which was also interesting.

I stumbled upon this blog post completely by chance (or serendipity?) and have a bunch of good ideas now. Here are many reasons to visit Colorado~

After our day of hiking around Garden of the Gods we drove to Manitou Springs--what a cute little town. We had good ice cream, and I found a soutache embroidery blouse there that is one of my favorites pieces of clothing.
