We've got the passports (YAY), got the airline tickets (gasp:: and that's a GOOD price?), we've got 1 1/2 of 2 weeks worth of itinerary,

What a great place to go! I've never been to Israel, but it's definitely on my bucket list!

Whenever DH and I have traveled with backpacks only, I've packed lots of things that mix and match so I don't feel as if I have to wear the same thing over and over. I pack light-weight items that roll up, like Carol said. One light jacket that goes with everything, wear a pair of walking shoes and pack a pair of nicer (nice-ish?) shoes for going out.

Have a great time!

True - Europe (and a lot of the rest of the world) is 220v...but some things like computers are multi-voltage capable. You will likely need a plug adaptor, though as plugs vary all over the place. Don't even bother with hair dryers (a friend of mine fried a hotel circuit breaker in Bali with hers!) or electric toothbrushes or curling irons or...Go manual and hope the hotel supplies hair dryers...

Israel's airline security is so tight it's downright scary... And it's above and beyond "normal" airline security. Check the El Al site for details.Or here: http://www.israelinsider.com/channels/security/articles/sec_0108.htm

Hotels do laundry for a (elevated) price but... Many have little clothes lines over the tub and you can hand-wash your "smalls" and dry them overnight. Go with clothing you can roll (so it takes up a lot less sapce in a suitcase) but which will hang out wrinkles. Mix-and-match tops with only two bottoms. Wear your jacket and hat on a plane. One pair of shoes for dress; wear your walking shoes on board. Oddly enough, both DH and I seem to be always under weight limits but still overpack and come home iwth items of clothing unworn (although he is usually short on underwear... - luckily our cruise ship had a laundry for passengers on board)

Can't think of anything else at present...
