Trusted Traveler Program?

Yesterday on the news they were talking about the TSA's announcement that they would expand the "Pre-Check" program to more airports this year. It seems to be an expansion of the Trusted Traveler/Global Entry program, with getting more airlines on board (pun intended) and having them promote the program to their frequent flyers. It will allow travelers with the cards (who have been pre-screened in order to get the card) to pass through a separate security line that will not require removing shoes or belts, opening laptops, etc.

Probably not... We just don't travel that much any more. Now if we were still living overseas, maybe we would have...

Edited to add that our "local" airport (Detroit) isn't a participant and we usualy out of there on every trip...

That'll be great for frequent flyers! I don't travel enough to make it worth it. I bet some of the business people who travel week after week will be really excited to hear that though!

Dh and I are already in the TT program. We got SENTRI cards (for crossing into US from Mexico) last year and shortly afterwards they announced that they could be used for Global Entry at participating airports. Now it looks like they will also be accepted for the PreCheck lines, but I'll need to confirm that. Unfortunately our local airport is not on the list of PreCheck airports for 2012 but some airports that we might fly into are on the list...so on our return we could qualify for the fast lane.

For $20 a year its a pretty good deal, assuming that your local airport participates. My dh travels a lot for business and I'll bet that he would apply for it, if he didn't already have the SENTRI.

It would be convenient for people who travel a lot.

I think it would be well worth the $100 and background check for them.
