Agressive Cat

I hope someone can help. I have a cat who is almost 3. About a year ago she saw another cat outside and attacked me. she became agressive with only me after that. I put her on feliway and it helped for about a year. now she has become agressive with the dog. (They are about the smae size. And the dog is not to blame. The cat will hunt down the dog and attack her. Last night I was on the phone and the dog was asleep on the floor. The cat jumped up on the couch and bit me on the arm.

Does anyone have any ideas how to make her stop. I don't want to have to get rid of her but I can't have her attacking me and the dog.

Thanks

Sarah

Hi Sarah. *Welcome* to Cats. I don't know why your cat is attacking you and the dog.

Sometimes cats tend to get lonely. I do not know if you are away from the house for any long periods of time during the day (?). If you are, the cat mind works overtime during these lonely hours and gets stressed. When you are around then, the cat will act in an aggressive way to show that he/she has missed you; in doing so, the cat is getting all that he/she can out of you, not knowing that he/she is hurting you. Remedy: Go to your local animal shelter, and get a kitten. At first, your cat will not know what to do, but within a few days, he/she will take up the kitten as his/her own, and will find comfort and companionship. The aggressive behaviour should slow down and cease after this. First hand; I have done this, and it has worked.
