Am I nuts to want another cat?

Ok, here's the situation. I grew up with pets...dogs, birds, hamsters, fish, but no cats. My dad is the type that animals belong outside. He was outvoted by mom. The most pets we ever had at one time, was 2 dogs, 3 birds, and 4 hamsters. That was my childhood.
Fast forward to now. I've lived on my own for 7 years. In my apartment, I was allowed to have 2 cats. I moved in there with Bad Annie, my adorable deaf kitty. About a month after moving in, I adopted Chalimar, to be Annie's "hearing cat". In other words, Chalimar reacts to sounds, Annie sees her, and reacts accordingly. For the most part, these 2 get along great.
The thing is, when I moved out on my own, I wanted 3 cats. I thought that was a great number. I don't know why. In the apartment, I could only have 2. Now I'm in my condo, owned by me. So I'm contemplating that 3rd cat. I think everyone thinks I'm nuts. Maybe I am. My 2 girls don't fight, share 1 litterbox...without incident. And I've said before that I am HORRIBLE about cleaning the box. Yet I've had no incidents. Both cats are front declawed...I had Annie done before I knew what the surgery entailed, and Chalimar had to be done because it was required by the apartment complex.
If I adopt a kitten, I'll be upsetting the applecart. Should I do that to my girls? They're about 9 and 7. If I'm going to do it, it would be better to do it now, while they're young enough to deal with a kitten. I just don't know. Their vet appointment for their annual shots is this week. I wouldn't adopt a kitten for another few weeks, so I'm sure their shots have taken effect.

I may not be the right one to answer this, but anytime you can adopt a pet and save a life, I'd go for it.
Great post Leslie!
