I hate to say it but Tiger was declawed in the front and that is all I have ever known. I read about how you guys think it is so awful but I do not know what to do with a cat thaT IS NOT. How do you keep them from ripping things,I have all new furniture , carpet ete and cannot take the chance on it. Alos I do daycare and have babies and if one of them would get scratched I could be in serious trouble and cannot take a chance on that either so????? Also cannot they scratch the puppy in the eye??

Thanks!! Do you trim their claws just like you do a dogs.? I was thinking of getting a older cat but the kids have never had a kitty so thought I would let them each get one. looked at a few today and now am more nervous. A lot of them have not been tested for FIV(??) and I would hate to get and find out. Our humane soceity is having a showing on Sat so may wait now till then and I know they check them

Yes you trim kitty claws like dogs. They have a quick you have to be careful about too.

I just want to say I agree totally with Leslie's advice. My cats love the scratching posts. I need to buy some more. My kitten is too smart for the Sticky Paws tape. LOL She pulls it right off the sofa with her teeth! (Rats! LOL)

I have no problem trimming Misha & Meezer's claws (our other 3 cats are declawed in front due to dh's mom having done that when they were hers). I usually do it when they are napping. You can usually see where the pink quick is and avoid clipping it.

I can't wait to hear all about your new baby!
